New Year, New You: 5 Tips for Success
Updated: Jul 13, 2022

Hard to believe it’s 2022!
While toasting to a happy new year…if you are anything like me, you may have also been toasting to a happy new you!
Let’s be honest - the past couple years have been ROUGH!
COVID, the economy, politics, mental health…the list goes on.
Last year I decided to ditch the multiple resolutions I always come up with (and rarely accomplish), and chose to focus on one really meaningful goal. For 2021 that was “Embrace Change”. After 2020, I needed that…and proud to say I think I accomplished the hell out of that resolution!
My 2021...
For those of you who don’t know, we sold our house and uprooted our family.
While I had wanted to move for quite some time, I would be lying if I said the move was all rainbows and butterflies. Leading up to the move, we were burned out on the emotional toll COVID had taken, we were feeling the financial strain, and overwhelmed by the seemingly endless challenges that continued to present themselves at the most inopportune times.
A second theft in just a couple months was the final straw. We decided it was time to restart and recharge. We had a unique opportunity to head to the Gulf coast for a few months and then would figure out where life would take us from there. (In my opinion…there’s not much salt and sand doesn’t fix.)
In the past year we changed states, time zones, environment, schools and careers…multiple times. We experienced some high highs and some low lows.
The outcome of embracing change, regardless of others' opinions and beliefs?
The hubby landed a new job in his dream career. We moved to a new state that brought us closer to my friends and family. My marketing business took off (leading to new big changes I look forward to sharing soon), and most importantly…we slowed down to actually enjoy life.
While a challenging year for the books…I would count it as a success!
As we start this year, I begin again with one simple resolution. Health. Physical health, mental health and financial health. I plan to conquer this resolution as I did the last.
Regardless of what your new year's resolutions are, and what that new you looks, acts or thinks like, there’s a few tips for success that worked pretty well for me last year.
Set your goal(s). If you don’t know what you're aiming for, chances of hitting it are pretty slim.
Don’t worry about how you’re going to accomplish your goal(s) and focus on why you’re going to accomplish them. What does this mean to you? How does it change your life or your business?
Focus on tips 1 and 2 when making decisions to stay on track. Life pulls us in so many directions and distractions are everywhere.
Celebrate the little successes and pause long enough to enjoy those moments. If you’re anything like me, you never stop long enough to enjoy your accomplishments. Big goals can feel impossible if you don’t recognize the milestones along the way.
Don’t let other people’s opinions, doubts and fears be yours. If COVID has taught me anything…it’s that life is too short to just be going through the motions. Whether it be personal or professional…do what makes YOU happy and what YOU enjoy.
